To be fair, my one cat would eat a whole catnip plant, pull it out by the roots and chew on those if she had the opportunity. And I could believe that would make her sick.

I saw Oz start nomming down on the leaves of the foxglove in my garden. I freaked. But nothing happened. I don't think he consumed anything by the time I yelled at him.

I had catnip as an indoor plant once and my cat completely ignored it. Then one day I put the plants on the deck for a good soak and some sun, and CRASH. I never did get the number of the cat who stole that whole plant from its pot.

Kate, I'm so sorry about your friend. My friend's DH is going through chemo and we were thinking of gift certificate options for them. Some great suggestions besides food were housecleaning services and Uber to get the DH back and forth to appts. (Their car is in the shop.)

~ma for Matilda, please? She's been racked with harsh consumptive coughing fits for the last month -- not pneumonia, not bronchitis, not asthma, nothing infectious, just a cough that won't stop; she got an inhaler last Tuesday and was supposed to be slowly improving but really hasn't been, and has been hitting the inhaler every 1-2 hours for the last few days. And she's recently almost totally stopped eating, because her sides hurt and the coughing makes her feel vomity. The frequent inhaler use alarmed the advice nurse a *lot*, so now Hec is taking her to urgent care for a possible back-to-back 3 rounds of neb treatments and then observation and then who knows what. And I'm here at work. She's just been so sick and draggly and waking every couple of hours to hack and gasp, but other than a few flare-ups such a steady little trooper.

What are some good things to send in a care package to someone who is going through chemo and radiation?

Distraction like DVDs of old sitcoms.

I did leave my ridiculous bluetooth enabled water bottle at a restaurant yesterday, but it was still there today, so now i have it back, yay! Consequence of my absent-mindedness, hot dogs for dinner two nights running. Not the healthiest of options, but yum. And supporting a local business, so that's a kind of virtue.

Poor punkin. The back to back to back nebs will leave her heart racing, which is totally normal though very odd feeling. Hopefully once that calms down she can sleep and then will be her fantastic self.

For me, I end up in a loop between asthma and anxiety which just feed each other back and forth until I can break out of the cycle. If I can calm both down enough to get some good sleep, it really makes a difference.

My dad and his wife have officially donated the clutchless car to charity - dad just got home from signing off on the pink slip. They are taking this SO in stride while I'd be flipping out if that happened to my car.
