Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
That is awesome!!
I'm pretty excited. There's also a chance I might go to an event they hold where the online kids all converge on site. It would be kinda nice to visit campus before I graduate! That would be this summer, I think.
I had a prof over sabbatical that was super supportive and is a mentor-y type. He really encouraged me to pursue it, so I'm appreciative. It's a lot of money, but ideally it would be helpful to me long-term. Plus, it's really something I just want to redeem from my misbegotten youth. Ok, pretty tame as far as youthful rebellion goes, but you know.
That prof has been sending me to these networking events, and I'll be doing another one in February, so I'll get to see him then too. He used to head up A&R at Warner. He's written for Flo Rida, Tim McGraw, all sorts of folks. And he knows daggone everybody, so he's been a great resource for me.
Which reminds me! LA-istas! If I were, purely hypothetically, driving through your fair city on Wednesday, Feb 24th and/or Sunday, Feb 28th, would any of you be available to get together? I would normally be there this weekend for NAMM, but I am clearly sitting on my couch in Arizona and not wrangling massive crowds in Anaheim at the moment. This is a different event, up near Santa Barbara.
My Jeeves did okay in a teeny-tiny apartment with no outside access, and the two current brats do just fine as indoor only.
Speaking of the current brats, Finn is happily playing a game for cats (titled "Game for Cats," appropriately enough) on the iPad. It's adorable.

Well, I have a spare bedroom if you need!
I have a single cat in an apartment, and I think she is fine. I wouldn't lock myself in to a no pet apartment ever again, because I hate moving, and I really was pining for a cat for several years.
It was this place, Tep: [link]
I've heard good things about Mariposa on some of the GF blogs I read. Yum!
My shawarma was excellent. It came with stuffed grape leaves and really good hummus. Nom.
Liese, I'm usually around so I'll say yes, although finding a way to see Jessica and DH is proving challenging this weekend. phooey!
I was planning to have tacos for dinner tonight, but the shredded cabbage that I was going to use was part of that listeria recall, so I microwaved some frozen pad thai instead.
I really need to clean my apartment, but I'm hurting and cleaning will probably make me hurt more. Although, having to step over all the junk on the floor isn't really helping on the pain front, either. At least I've got a few days work on it. I don't have anything I have to do on campus on Fridays this semester, and having that extra day when I don't have to walk across campus is really helpful.
I had pot roast, steamed broccoli, mashed potatoes and gravy, and red wine for dinner. Now I'm a lump on the sofa, listening to Maddow and sleet falling in the background.
Shrift, if it's the potluck I'm also invited to, the host has gastric problems with beets. Just FYI. Also onions.
I need to track down my sister's recipe for orange cake, which uses an entire orange and is totally awesome.
Liese, that is SO COOL. Rock on!
I spent the day doing ... stuff. Mostly Dad-related, including tracking down his wallet and taking him to the dentist and arranging for him to get 4 hours/day of personal care. Turns out he hasn't been showering because he's afraid of falling, which I should have guessed (given that he fell in the shower a year or so ago). But I still have not defeated the dragon that is Verizon, the fuckers. Tomorrow, maybe.
Now I need to feed the dog, make some dinner, do some laundry, and then I can sit down and watch Agent Carter and The 100.
I don't know what a small apartment means where you are, Connie, but I had two kittens in an apartment in NC and it was pretty fine. I'm a proponent of the idea that two kittens are as easy as one so, if you want kittens, get two! Because they'll entertain each other and be super amusing.
But, if you're interested in getting an older cat who already has a preference for being an only, that should work out fine, too!
