I think I've talked myself out of a movie today. Tomorrow.

I am having serious problems with my mid-term memory today. Like, if I get started on a task, fine, good, I can totally do the shit out of that task. But when I get ready to do the next thing? I have, like, zero memory of what that next thing was supposed to be. And then I wander around aimlessly for a bit, which is possibly not really the most productive way to spend my day. I know it's probably a hangover effect from being sick so long, but it is very disconcerting.
Timelies all!
Got a new computer at work. The one I was using was old and slow, and a couple of the keys fell off, so a new one is most welcome.
We did roles and responsibilities today, evaluations with boss will be next week or week after.
I took back a task from someone because 1) I have to do some work with the same data and 2) I am not happy with how they are doing it and it messes me up at month end close too often.
I got rid of a task that I have been failing to keep up with and it goes to two people who have 1) better knowledge of the day to day info in that area 2) better and faster access to areas to remedy errors and get questions answered.
I hope this will already resolve some of the issues I brought up on my self-evaluation.
My boss walked in this morning and first thing came to my office and started asking about file boxes in my office (he is mild OCD and hates STUFF). File boxes start accumulating in my office after mid-year as files from the previous year start getting pushed out of drawers by current year files. I have to routinely access files from the past year and so putting them in storage outside the office is a no go. In addition, we are a small small office, so as we pull things from non-office storage (still on site) that we can get rid of (retention policy blah blah blah), I try to shred them as per smart business practice, so files sit in my office as I higgeldy piggeldy shred them when I have time. Of course my boss would just throw them in the dumpster. vent vent. I managed to get a trash bag shredded today while he was in a meeting and I was running reports. I got another pile shoved in a bag under my desk and I combined some other items into a box which cleared out a box I took to my car. He will be out tomorrow, so I should be able to get rid of the rest and maybe clear my desk so he will get off my ass.
Good luck with all that, msbelle. Sounds promising? Have y'all considered a service to shred your old documents where you could drop them off somewhere instead of you shredding them? Just having a dollar amount to quote might be useful.
Yay new computer!
I know exactly how frustrating and weird that is, Liese. Hope it passes.
I am kind of loving the Turbo Tax ads featuring Big Name Physicists. I might love more the fact that we have, as a society, Big Name Physicists. Too bad Turbo Tax can't handle my long-term capital gains loss on my state return.
And a Volkswagen ad. Not so much with the warm fuzzy feelings for that one. No acknowledgment whatsoever.
Whee! Karen's coming up this weekend. Totally throwing my weekend into disarray which normally is an ish, but I just want to see her and bitch and drink and hug. I've missed her.
Hooray!
I am watching a DVD. That hasn't happened in a while, I hope I remember how to do it.
I doubled my Lyrica dose and my face is finally feeling better. BUT the side effects are kicking in. Dizzy as all F. Not cool. Plus now my lungs are hating on me again. I don't think that is related, but all the more reason to contact my doctor.
If you see me on here tomorrow, PLEASE ask if I called to make an appointment.
I think I have my new website almost ready.
A bit sparse, but I'll be adding to it as I go.
