Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! Oh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Pix and Drew, "horrid pile of awful" is an apt description. Sorry for you guys and Wilson and all your other animals. What a mess.

msbelle, insent.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I'm so sorry, Pix and Drew! When they opened up the walls in our bathroom they found a lot of mold and ended up ripping the whole thing out, which added $6k to the costs of reno. Do you have a separate tub and shower? Have your landlord ask them if they can stagger the demo. For us, they demo-ed the shower and left the tub, so we took showers with a handheld thing in the tub. Not ideal, and it's kind of creepy to shower in a torn-up room with a hole in the floor you can see through to the crawlspace, but it's doable. Needs must when you only have one bathroom.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Oh, Pix and ND, I'm so sorry about Wilson!! Poor kitty. And all of the stress and mess and everything. So much! I hope things smooth out for you all soon.

msbelle, ugh, that's so stressful about Mac.

Suzi, I'm so sorry about your friend. That's awful.

Laura, I'm glad you're getting to take vacation this week.

In news of my recovery, I turned some magical corner around Wednesday/Thursday and I feel completely normal. No pain, no digestive issues, nothing. I feel a thousand percent better than before the surgery.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That's fantastic, amyth!

I should really be doing stuff (cleaning, cooking, wrapping presents), but I have convinced myself there is plenty of time between now and Christmas Eve, when the whole family comes over.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Yay, amyth! That's great to hear.

Pix, that is awful. I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

msbelle, I'm sorry that things aren't better with Mac. All sorts of ~ma for you.

Public Service Announcement: The chocolate hazelnut cookies from Trader Joes are excellent. You should all get some on your next trip to TJs.

So, Christmas Eve apps. My aunt is bringing cheese and crackers. I'm making some spanikopita-like filo cups. I also have edamame in the freezer. What else could I do that might possibly pull that all together? Just crudite?

Maybe those ready-made mini quiches that come in a variety of flavors?

Crudite and a dip maybe?

Oh yeah, crudite always comes with dip! I think I'll just do that and call it a day. I have to bring some to church for the choir anyway, so two birds/one stone.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

That sounds like plenty to me.
