"Once in Royal David's City"
I've spent the last however many years hating that song, since we sing all six verses every Christmas Eve, but somehow last night I didn't hate it so much? Must be some kind of Stockholm syndrome.
But I think my favorite Christmas song is "The Lord of the Dance" from The Christmas Revels, which is quite defiantly un-mournful.
And not at all Christmas! But yes. (I'm going to Revels next week!!)
I'm inordinately fond of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," especially the version with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots.
There is no inordinately! That song is the best.
And now this shows up on my FB via non-Buffista channels:
Goats Singing Christmas Carols Is The Holiday Album You Didn't Know You Needed

Six verses is Too Much.
The whole Britten Ceremony of Carols is awesome.
Goats Singing Christmas Carols Is The Holiday Album You Didn't Know You Needed
This is so true.
eta: Nothing says "Let's celebrate the birth of Christ" more than screaming goats.
Six verses is Too Much.
We sing every verse of everything, and I think it is ridiculous, but the Minister of Music is really into the words/meaning.
Three verses, max, with very few exceptions. That is my rule..
Oh Man, those goats are killing me.
At least being LDB'd means I'm now free to scan the 24/7 Christmas song channels in the hope of running across Elton John's "Step Into Christmas."
That was playing at one of the stores Dad and I went to!

pulls up the MCR cover version on the iPod. (Of course there's an MCR cover).
Oh JFC you guys. This new position that I'm going to be taken, which is still super top secret and not at all for public knowledge?
Someone just jumped on a call I was on, with my brand new team member who is still onboarding, and was all "and Brenda's got really big news too! I don't know how we'll manage when you move into your new role!"
