I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Stay safe, Matt!

The only mandatory emergency training we've had is armed intruder. The fire extinguisher training was voluntary. I think we got a page to read and sign-that-we-had-read on earthquakes. And we've been affected by an earthquake since I've been working here (didn't hit during work hours, but still). Oh, wait, no, we covered heat stroke, which is a good one to include here if you're going to cherry pick.

Anyway. Pretty curious about what history will have to say about the 21st century.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

OMG, Matt, stay safe. Ditto everybody else in your vicinity.

What to get those hard-to-buy-for folks for Christmas this year? Your very own dedicated to you mass shooting! For a small additional fee, you can be included in the shootees, and for a significantly larger fee, you get to hold a firearm and participate yourself! The latest rage, everywhere!

There is surprisingly little coverage on this since The Donald monopolizes the news cycle

It's deliberate. Other "serious" Presidential candidates and corrupt public organizations alike are using his antics as a distraction--"Look! Look at the shiny! See how silly! Don't notice what we're doing over here."

Yeah, they *gave* us the pill popper and demonstrated its use when I threatened to bring Jenny to the office twice a day until her course of meds was done, to let the vet staff dose her. It worked pretty well. She still managed to spit the pill out a few times.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Guys? I think it means something when I'm more concerned about your safety in the States than my own in Jerusalem.

Please stay safe, and fingers crossed for a quick and peaceful solution of shooters events.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

ASU gunman now in custody according to JPD, no one harmed so far as I know.

He was apparently a redneck protesting something. I suspect Obama taking his guns away, from the sound of the intelligence involved.

Gift for the people you don't know what to get or has everything is a donation to planned parenthood or everytown for gun safety.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm glad the ASU gunman didn't cause more problems.

And, you know when something's stupid but you find yourself doing it anyway? (Not re: guns, at least in this case.) Yeah, one of my conservative Christian relatives decided to post on my "cancer needs to stop killing people I love" FB post that cancer is caused by people sinning. So I'm engaging in a Biblical debate. With family. On Facebook. Because that always works out well.

Probably not gonna stop.

Might be a good time to tell you about something that I'm not sure if I shared here in the past or not.

About 8-9 months ago, I started something called "The Capybara Procedure". The procedure is that whenever an online friend reads a hateful talkback or is engaged with a kind of discussion that leads to severe headdesking with a possible injury, they must publicly post a picture of a capybara and cc me on it.

It usually breaks the cycle and gets me pictures of capybaras.

Ann, that's a ferret.

She still managed to spit the pill out a few times.

Happens to us occasionally, too. We usually get it right the second time.
