Oh my friends. I am of course earwormed with appropriate Hamilton lyrics.
I can't decide whether I want to go to work or call in sick.
The shock of ita's death was truly awful, but I think this is awful, too because I wish like anything we could all be there, draped around her with laptops and tiaras and drinks and books and all of our love, and we can't.
We can't be with Ginger, but we can be together, and that helps. I have to believe she feels our love.
I know what you mean, Amy.
I'm working from home today, and only doing what is really necessary. We're a little short-handed already and I don't want to burden my coworkers with my accounts, but I can't face anyone asking how I'm doing/how my weekend was.
There's nothing at work that really needs to be done, and I couldn't imagine thinking at some point in the future "I'm so glad I went to work today." So I'm staying home.
I am going to work- I thought about staying home because I slept fitfully and my eyes are swollen, but I have an important meeting and I was basically out for the last 2weeks.
I have an article that has to be turned in tomorrow morning, and it'll take about 7 hours. I want to just stay in bed, but I have to get this done. At least I don't work in an office with other people who I have to explain my red, puffy eyes to.
I have a meeting with the Dean this morning, so he can tell me that the Provost is threatening not to sign any contracts (putting me and 7 others here out of a job) but that I shouldn't worry because the ABA says there has to be someone with my job title here. If the provost signs mine, but refuses to sign the others, I can't quite imagine walking into the faculty meeting that follows.
Tomorrow, however, is a holiday, and I am inside-pantsing.
