Natter 74: Ready or Not
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Secret stair exploration sounds excellent.
I may be eating all the cake today. These things happen.
Where did the secret stairs go? Or is it a secret?
Chennai is where one of our vendors is located. Our point-of-contact was assuring us they'd do their best to stay on schedule. I told him I was more worried about his people staying safe. Screw the deliverables. "Come now, if they can't swim, they can row through the floodwaters! We must ensure those Magnetics papers make their posting date! Priorities, man!"
I am so tired. My boss is losing her shit, as she always does at the end of the year. I don't know how to phrase "I can do my job but I cannot deal with any more drama, just back off and let me work" in a way that will not compromise my chances of remaining employed there.
I hear you Zen.
My boss has started the end-of-year crankiness, but that's still nothing compared to my old job, when my boss had so much vacation time that she didn't use throughout the year that she took all of November and December off, which fucked our production schedule horribly. (We were SO glad to have her out of the office, because she was from hell, but when you only have 4 editors and 1 takes 2 months off, there's no way to keep up the work.)
I have occasionally wished I worked in a more dynamic office than a tech support call center, but hearing these stories makes me very happy that I have predictable work and processes.
Got into a minor fender-bender today. No injuries.
There's no need for me to talk to the other driver's insurance company, is there? (They called and left a message, telling me to call them.) I was under the impression that I only should talk to mine, and they figure out things between themselves.
I found the census data jackpot!!
Also I chatted nicely with my mother at lunch and THEN she texts me from the ER where my stepfather is apparently having a TIA. After she said to me on the phone at lunch, "I think he's probably going to just drop dead one day." NOT TODAY PLEASE UNIVERSE!
As I said about my father (false alarm), If he dies this month, I'll kill him!
My 2:30 ortho appointment that I thought would be a whole song and dance was just a quick check in! So I did a little shopping and now am watching TV, since I already took half a sick day. Here's hoping relaxing now makes it easier to work on Sunday.
Tommy, you don't have to involve your insurance but can if you want to. If the other guy admitted fault and his insurance is going to handle it, you may not need yours. If it's your fault or disputed then yeah, go through yours.
