I think the last straw fell; elimination of separate sick leave without an increase in PTO.
Just sent an intemperate one liner to my retiring boss.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I am feeling really glum about my career, a direct result of someone I knew when she was a 23 year old intern just getting a department-head level job at Emory. I feel like every job I get is a step down - I started at a top academic research library, then went to a big state school, and now I'm at a (good) public library. Every single one of those moves was due to moving for mr. flea's work, and then having to find a new job in whatever city we ended up. But I feel like I'll never have a good job again, and I'm getting past my prime.

As in you had 10 sick days and 10 vacation days and now have 20 PTO? Or like you had 10/10 and now have 10? Because the latter is totally a quittable offense. (Something way less egregious, for which they after protest gave us a 1% raise for, is what caused the mass exodus at my last job)
The latter. And the sick leave was still accruable( I had a ridic amount), whereas PTO is not.
And this in an environment where the majority of the staff have 5 weeks leave+ 5 weeks sick, no cap on the latter and something like 6 months on the former.
If I am expected to work with that differential, they can expect to work with a raging, seething ball of resentment. Which will end well for no one.
That sucks, sarameg. Bah.
And flea. I understand why it's happened, but it's a drag.
I'm not going to hide any of it. And I really hope division boss is in tomorrow. And my boss is on site. Because we need to start talking options. And I need to talk to one of the lead jwst testers and see what he has open so I can leverage, if it comes to that.
It's not like this at all!
It should be! I'm going to pretend it is. Actually, I'm a good bit better right now, but yesterday about this time of night was when it was last exacerbated, so I'm not holding my breath.
That's ridiculous, sarameg. (eta: what's happening, not your plan. Your plan is sound.)
Yeah, flea, you're part of the stat! The deal with women's careers taking a back seat to their husbands' even when the woman is equally educated and capable. It sucks.
Because he's an engineer, he makes 2 to 3 times what I make, so it's not like we've had much of a choice.
Still, it's not right or fair.
Flea, I'm sorry.
I guess I fired my first salvos on fb, as my branch boss and both of my CSRA supers ( whatever the fuck it is now) can see it. As well as several coworker under this sub contract and not. I.don't.care. I want them to.
