So last night, I came up with a possibly brilliant response to my budget problem, and was all ready to run it by my boss, who usually gets in early -- and he has an appointment out of the office this morning! Won't be in til 9:30! Thwarted.

It is pre-5AM and I'm already at the airport...but this is for fun, not work! It was by far the cheapest flight. But I'm not sure what I'll do when I get there--I can't check in to the hotel at 8AM!
This happened to me in Denver last week - plus they didn't have a place to store luggage so I couldn't just go out and get breakfast and explore or whatever. (Plus, I'd gotten up at 4 to get to the airport so I wasn't feeling super motivated.)
I ended up lounging in the lobby till the front desk people felt it looked unseemly, then a room magically opened up.
