We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The one advantage of going back to Previous Employer would be getting back on a 9/80 schedule, which means a three day weekend every other week. So useful.

Dad's surgery must be over, I'm waiting for the doctor to come talk to me.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I feel like retirement is going to be wasted when I am old. I wish I could do something like a reverse retirement!

I also have an irrational hatred for the words "Plenary Session" at any conference that is just a tiny tiny thing that no outside people are invited to. It is too formal. Also, this particular "conference" has 4 plenary sessions and lunch. There are no other kind of sessions.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't know that that hatred is all that irrational....

Yeah, I think I would like that. It wouldn't fly here, I don't think, because people basically work all the time.

I am pondering aspic(s) today. Why, why, why aspic? I have never had it, and I probably should try, but it seems so unappetizing. But, they were very popular from at least the late 1800's to, like, 1950, right? But WHY?

Tom Scola - Feb 10, 2014 8:27:00 am PST #19727 of 30000

why aspic?

There are lots of things that are objectively gross and disgusting that people nonetheless consume. Like cauliflower.

Because books.

Maybe because you could make it ahead and it didn't have to be served warm or really cold, Sophia? It's basically savory Jell-o, right?

I have inflamed lungs. And an antibiotic prescription. Whoo. My blood pressure was also 150/90 or something, which was unnerving. My blood pressure is usually normal to low.

So ready for winter to be over.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I've seen some snow coming down today, but nothing's sticking. And it looks like a couple of flocks of birds decided to hold a defecation contest on the window next to my cube. Sadly, the snow isn't washing that away. People keep coming up behind me, exclaiming "What is that?" Me: bird crap. Them: Why is it there?

I'm not the bird whisperer--how should I know?

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

There are lots of things that are objectively gross and disgusting that people nonetheless consume. Like cauliflower.

And Tom Scola throws down the cauliflower gauntlet!

I'm trying to decide if there's anything I need to do to prepare for Snowpocalypse 2: Electric Bugaloo. This time they're talking ice storm for Wednesday, so losing power is possible.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

No President's Day for me either. Of course school will be out though. I wish I could get a job with the district for matching days off with mac.

I am in put away paper mode at both home and office. I have a grocery bag of paper already for recycling and got a small pile filed. WHEE. Pretty soon I am going to be left with only non-easy to deal with items on my desk.
