Because books.

God, Consuela. They couldn't call someone in about his jaw? That's insane.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Ugh, what a pain. Better a jaw than a pelvis, maybe?

Wow. That's all kinds of fucked up. I hope he's at least comfortable tonight.

My former boss had a similar multi-contact fall in the shower. Knocked several teeth out and broke a collarbone, in addition to scrapes and bruises all over. Apparently, it is hard not to bang up just about everything in falls like that.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Yikes, 'Suela! I'm glad it wasn't worse, but that sounds pretty miserable. I hope you can find someone to fix his jaw soon -- that's unbelievable.

And I concur with those who have had a shitty day today. I've been feeling gross all day, and finally came home around 1, hoping to sleep off the ick in time for the concert M and I were planning to go to tonight (Neutral Milk Hotel). Instead I woke up on the couch at 4 feeling even worse. And it's cold and raining like hell and I have to be out of the house by 7am tomorrow and work until after 6, so I decided to skip the concert, but I'm pretty bummed about missing it. Plus Rose's bedtime was a major struggle, and then I made a giant mess in the kitchen, which needs to be cleaned up before I go to bed. But at least I made a pretty tasty sopa de ajo, so there's that?

Good lord, Consuela. That's nuts. I hope he gets the care he needs soon.

today is just seriously shitty.

God yes. PMS on top of micromanaging boss on top of regular february blahs makes for stabby, stabby.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I've been feeling vaguely nauseous on and off today and had a headache, but didn't think much about it until my mother said she had the same thing! So maybe it's some kind of weird minor virus? Weird.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Perhaps we could do an iChat live reading of Alexander's no good very bad day for everyone.

I hope that's a good Petite Syrah, Consuela. Your poor dad. Your poor you.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My day hasn't been too bad, just lots of stuff to do. I think I finished everything I was supposed to do today, though. Tomorrow's plan is writing a whole bunch of stuff (notes for a presentation, outline for a midterm, essay about why I want to work at a Jesuit university) while my students take a quiz. Tomorrow will probably also include trudging through a whole lot of snow, because the university never closes for snow, and we're supposed to be getting eight inches.

I went out for beer after work, so my day did get better.

ION, I emailed the HR guy at the OPCW to see what was going on with this 2nd position. He replied that there is still no decision and there may not be for a few more weeks. I am getting all antsy pantsy.

I really need to get plans B thru F into place in case this does not happen.
