Birmingham metro area is a mess. Schools are keeping kids who can't be picked up and taking in people seeking shelter. Drivers are abandoning cars on the interstate to seek shelter (and if you have any idea how sprawling the area is, they're in for a hike in a LOT of places) and yeah, it is basically just shut down.

I'm glad PJ made it to where they did- besides the hotel, it's a Target mall, Lowes, etc. They aren't stranded in a residential suburb. Josh is fine, he's downtown, right in the heart of the medical district. Childrens, the VA Hospital, UAB... he's in the best place to be stranded. Things will be open.

Most of our snow melted today. But there is a huge ice slick that is covering one end of the parking lot. I didn't fall but I came close a couple of times. I'm surprised I didn't bust something in my effort to stay upright.

There are about 600 students stuck at Marietta High School. The culinary arts students fed them, and now they're about to watch The Avengers in the auditorium.

One friend has now been on the road for 8 hours and has been a mile and a half from home for the last 3.
