I wanna die in bed surrounded by fat grandchildren, but guess that's off the menu.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Well, that explains my confusion! I haven't heard the Pink song, I don't think.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I was gonna take the train to work today, but I lost a scarf and the one I have left isn't long enough to cover my face, so I managed to get my car unstuck and took that to work.

So today I'll try to pick up a scarf or ski-mask and long underwear. If the store hasn't sold out of winter stuff yet.

Dang, I do not envy Chiberia. It's going to be 50 here, which while not LA type weather, is still warm enough! It's quite foggy at the moment.

Shrift, that seems like an excellent plan.

I have some reports to write (that I really need to do, one is due tomorrow and one Thursday but I should get them done), and then a PT appointment at 10AM, so I'm like "but I can't REALLY get anything done before I have to leave for PT, so...". Ugh. (And I'm also waiting on my boss to drop a load of "we need you to do this ASAP' stuff, since they know I'm free this week).

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Speaking of LA weather, it rained last night rather unexpectedly. At least we weren't expecting it, but had managed to bring the bikes onto the back porch anyway so we were basically prepared for it. Today is sunny with no hint of rain. Go figure.

So we have all this cold weather, but in England they had a catnado. Happily, no cats were injured.

BBC News - Chobham 'mini-tornado lifted cats in air'

Shirley Blay, who keeps horses at the Jolly Blossom Stables on Station Road, Chobham, told BBC Surrey: "It was a mini-tornado, I can't describe it as anything less.

Shirley Blay said the shed was thrown backwards and broke into four pieces

"It started with very heavy rain, hailstones and very strong wind and all of a sudden, the wind was very, very strong, to the point of lifting roofs.

"Stable roofs were shaking and lifting and my granddaughter went to make a feed up for the pony and the shed she was in lifted.

"She jumped out of it and it just shattered, it was thrown backwards and broke into four pieces.

"We've got four feral cats in the yard and they were being lifted off the ground - about 6ft off the ground - they just went round like a big paper bag."

She said the people and animals who were caught up in the storm were uninjured.

That sounds like some sort of Buffy-esque euphemism: "Well, that'll lift your cat in the air..."

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ugh. Just had to eat a $40,000 error in a client bid because someone transposed digits. I didn't have the fee buildup so no way I could have caught it.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Ugh, that bites, brenda. I bump into this all to often on my projects. I don't get involved in the pricing but when I put together my cost performance reports I find gaps and mistakes. Never to our benefit.

So much fun calling VIP on his vacation in Mexico to get his okay. But trying to explain and correct the error would be fatal. I do feel really bad for the guy who made the mistake.

Yikes! The down side of contracting, indeed.

Speaking of which, two separate firms are apparently going to bid to provide technical staff for my former employer. So I just sent an email to the second firm going, "Erm, you might want to talk to me..."

Had a nice chat with a friend about what I should do, and he very sensibly pointed out that there's no down side to continuing to pursue the position. Nothing except getting my hopes up to be dashed, but that's par for the course these days.
