Kaylee: So how many fell madly in love with you and wanted to take you away from all this? Inara: Just the one. I think I'm slipping.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

OK! Starting crust right now.

What I am trying to accomplish today

  • Wash all the laundry
  • Cook all the food
  • Clean all the dishes
  • Fill up the Yard Waste Bin with blackberry vines
  • Fill the recycling bin with cardboard boxes
  • Finish this damn issue of Entertainment Weekly from 2012 that I have been reading for approximately ever

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have laundry in and have done as much work as I'm going to without feedback. I need to clean the crap out of the bathroom, obviously.

In the ongoing saga of My Bathroom and My Feelings About It, I now realize that this blank slate is what I needed. Like, I see that if I'm going to keep the walls white, I need some art or something, and could get something that basically hides my crappy patches. But maybe I want to make them hot pink. I just need to think about it for a couple of weeks.

Random flatware placement question: I have these placemats with pockets for flatware on the right (you can roll them up and take them with you for picnics or whatnot - I use them to class up my lunches at my desk during the work week) - what order should the fork, knife and spoon go in? I am torn between knife, spoon, fork so the knife is closest to the plate, and fork, knife, spoon, because forks go on the left.

The status is NOT quo.

I have no flatware wisdom.

I am awake and restless. There are times when being the only one in my group of loved ones who doesn't work theatre hours blows. I've been up since 7 and may get an hour of time with ND before he has to go back to work once he's up; he didn't even get home from work until after 1.

I would do this one, I think. But probably dither in reality.

And and update from this week's Ellen shows: They used to call June Squibb the dirtiest mouth on Broadway. I feel like that's got be to be a pretty high bar!

I definitely dither. And most of the time I just use the spoon, or maybe just the fork, but generally only one utensil, so it doesn't matter in any practical sense. But it seems like there is probably a correct answer.

Glad the Tabula Rasa is helping you get a handle on what you want to do with the space, Jesse.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Well that sucks, msbelle. I hope things get more reasonable at work soon.

In further kale news, mine is currently baking in a lasagna. I did not massage it first, but I did blanch it. We'll see how neglected it feels in about half an hour.

I also finished an onerous task. There's a set of blinds across a big window in my living room that require support in the middle. I was able to replace the blinds and leave up the hardware months ago, but the slots where the supports go were in a slightly different place, so they didn't catch quite right. The blinds kept slipping out and sagging (at least they never fell), and I kept shoving them back instead of fixing it, because fixing involved moving the ginormous cat condo, measuring things, unscrewing, placing, and rescrewing hardware (some of which had fallen off and landed behind the bookcase). It was this whole thing. But it's this whole thing that I finally dealt with today. So now I can open and close the blinds without wondering if this is the time they'll slip off and fall out of their end supports completely. I totally deserve lasagna.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

You absolutely deserve lasagna.

I have more onerousing to do today but I feel like it's one of those days where if I just manage to feed myself and not fall down or anything it's a win.
