Let him do his thing, and then you get him out. No messing with him for laughs.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Plei, thanks! If we can't connect with my mom tomorrow we may email your mom.

We are all old to 6 year olds.

Also Kiss, the band, is now 40 years old. I am old.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

One of my former students was complaining on facebook about how old she was getting after running into one of the kids she used to babysit as an adult.

Which makes me...ancient, I guess.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I told you guys about Dylan asking how long ago Judah the Maccabee lived and when I said thousands of years ago, he asked "So, 1970-what?" right? Like, that's literally as far back in time as he can comprehend. We are all ancient.

That said, my grandmother is 94 and kind of knows how to Skype if Grace doesn't mind seeing just the top of her head. I don't know how available she might be on short notice, though.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

This board is so educational sometimes! Today I learned a name for how I cut kale AND a fancy European name for a split wardrobe!

brillig

Some of you may remember the girl from Ireland who came to Utah for a guy she met online. She's a wonderful girl, they ended up marrying and having a kid. After various hardships, she has managed to get back to Ireland with her son, and our friend eventually followed them. Hubby has been messaging with her, and we've discovered that she's realized she's made a terrible mistake getting married to him. He's been threatening to take her son aware from her, and she's afraid that his family will help him.

Hubby's online with her right now, and we're pointing out that she is on home ground, and the odds of an American successfully challenging an Irishwoman in her own land for custody of their child in a troubled relationship is very low. Her family and friends hate him, he aparently hates him, she's a mess and wishing someone had warned her off of him. We told her she never asked us or we would have.

I am so very, very grateful she made it back home.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh dear Connie, how hard for her.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes -- what a terrible situation to be in. Good thing she's home, at least.

The benefits of an old house: I wanted to ask my mother if she thought they had a power sander of any kind, but didn't want to call too early, and I heard her coming downstairs to get the paper! So I popped out and asked, and she doesn't think so. Ah well.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Yikes.

I don't think I've ever had kale. In general green leafy veggies don't work for me, though at least fresh fried okra was delish.

Jesse -- I bet you can rent power sanders from Home Depot.

Yeah, I think at this point I'm just going to have the guys do it.
