I know, world in peril and we have to work together. This is my last office romance, I'll tell you that.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I am at work, but it's quiet here, so that's a plus.

My father had the "here's what we want when we're infirm" conversation with me last night. Don't wanna!

I'm getting the 'we've got no infirmities' but LET US SHOW YOU THEM.

To which I'm apparently all practical and irritated which makes for fun times.

Eh, I'll live. What's bad is I really don't have anything for dad this year( he doesn't want stuff! He has everything!) and it looks like I'm holding a grudge, which isn't the case, just lacking inspiration.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I am so out of inspiration on the gift front. I just... I don't know.

The worst is buying stuff from the kids for K. I'm feeling Christmased out.

The twins are watching Charlie Brown Christmas which I bought yesterday and really love.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I insist "it's Jamaica" is not a good enough excuse for not paying attention to your work, but he insists that's just the way.

Heh, Tom's your indignant New Orleans counterpart.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I am at work, but it's quiet here, so that's a plus.

Insent, Scrappy.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm at work. There was almost no traffic on the way here.

I seem to be going through another Beatles phase, so I'm listening to Abbey Road. Next up: Let It Be, which I just bought.

There's a toy that the two-year-old likes, so I've been Feliz Navidaded to death already.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

People are leaving en masse here at work. I should have time to get to the theater in time for The Hobbit.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I tried to make a case for seeing The Hobbit again, but the husband wasn't having it.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Today's Christmas Miracle:

We found Emmett's stocking.

This is the beautiful hand-made stocking that Emmett's Mom made for him when he was 1 year old and is - more or less - the center of all our co-parenting holiday traditions.

Not having it had cast a pall over my enjoyment of the whole holiday season and bummed me out. Plus EM was getting pissy about it.

I spent six hours tearing through every room in the house on Saturday trying to find it and turned up nothing. So disheartening.

And I thought about it and thought about and thought, "I think I remember I told EM to take it to her house after last Christmas, because this year's Christmas would be at her house."

And she looked again. And she found it. (And she apologized for being mean and blamey about it.)

Exhale.
