My parents are in a retirement community where they are now in a house larger than the one we grew up in and has graduated care through to nursing home/ Alzheimer's care if they need it someday. Mom's 79th b'day was yesterday and they just got back from a trip to Disneyworld. I want to be them when I retire.
Echoing what Consuela said about talking early. My parents' place gave them a health test before they were able to buy in so after something happens may be too late to actually have a choice.
Mom's 82nd birthday is on Wednesday. I must buy her something, but I'm damned if I can think what. Sigh. Probably jewelry, I guess, since she can't really read anymore. Or maybe some dvds... Hmm.
Would she like recorded books? A collection of old radio shows?

Nope, she doesn't appear to have any interest in audio. Never has.
Argh, I have to go to the DMV to sort out the registration renewal on the car I already gave my sister (that apparently needed a smog check. I never got a notice or I would have taken care of it). At least I could make an appointment for after work on Thursday.
Kat, that sounds wonderful. I love my neighborhood too. It's such a great feeling to have found a home.
Had a great dinner with an old friend, which was nice. Then I decided to get a movie on demand (due to my general anti-DVD stance) and picked SD instead of HD because it was cheaper, and...it's not full-screen! WTF! I thought it would just be lower quality, not smaller. Next time I will spend the dollar.
I got my new shoes yesterday, and they're gorgeous. So I called a friend to go out to dinner with me, so I can justify wearing the shoes. heh.
So I kinda conked out unexpectedly for a couple hours after my manicure and woke up having to attend to the results of my fluid intake. To discover a SOCK in my toilet. PUMPKIN!!!!
Pretty sure my sleep is all ferwonked now, but damnit, I can't sleep in tomorrow, too much to be done.
Nice shoes AND a nice dinner? You are totally winning, Consuela.
