The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That sounds like an awesome vacation, Liese!

You'll be productive some other time, Lee.

I actually went out and weeded for a bit, and I made it to the library this morning. If I can force myself to do some neatening tonight, it will almost be in the neighborhood of not superslothy.

When my nephews get like that, he takes them out for a run. They've clocked many miles around the nearby lake. If the weather is shitty, it's the local hands-on science center where they chase up and down 4 floors (with a slide!) along with the other kids whose parents have Had It. Younger demographic, but I expect the runs around the lake will work for years.

I got a shitton done before noon and then just fell down until 4 (couldn't/wouldn't sleep until the wee smalls, up at 7 for market.) Got my swim in and then cleaned the shit out of my floors. Finished that up finally at 8:30.

Tomorrow I need to tackle some yard work. Which just got easier cause when I went out, I discovered one of my neighbors scooped up the leaves on my steps and sidewalks. Still have to do the yard, but aw! Being gone much of Nov, I didn't carry my full share this year (we often work together, or take care of the other 3 when we know they aren't able to do it) so it was totally my turn. But either B or A beat me to it.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

what do I actually like enough to apply discipline to?

This leads me to a lot of poking about on iTunes.

And sadly my favorite lecturer doesn't have anything currently available. Which is sad because she taught me about Greek, then Roman art entirely through words. I'd love to just edustalk her and take whatever class she happens to be teaching.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

BTW, Liese, my parents were telling me about a book that might interest you

I READ IT! They had it at the little casita where we stayed, and we totally went to see the Haagen Dazs where spies plotted assassinations and shit. So awesome! I mean, it wasn't a Haagen Dazs then.

You know me so well. I would totally love to hear him speak, though.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

When my nephews get like that, he takes them out for a run.

Yeah, I used to run Emmett around the track when he got nutso. Sadly he is a high school athlete trained up to a peak right now. He's been practicing six days a week for the last six weeks, and his coach works them hard. So anything less than catching for three hours isn't going to tire him. His thighs are Eric Heiden-like right now, just slabs of granite.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I read the hotel information book. What? That's what it's there for!

By "read the hotel information book", you mean "look at what room service offers", right?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I can't believe Emmett is old enough for SATs.

One year from now he will be (I hope!) opening up college acceptance letters.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I am totally right, but we are doing it the more complicated Jason way, because if we didn't he was going to have a nervous breakdown. Sometimes it sucks being the less anal one in a relationship.

You know what's even worse? Being the more anal and organized one when the other one is a bit OCD. Because then the more complicated way is also less organized and less efficient and yet still must be followed to avoid same nervous breakdown.

sigh.

brillig

I just found a fascinating series on You Tube: BBC Wartime Farm, a several-part series about a year running a farm in the same way they did during WWII. The bits about the recommended practices--the government advising farmers to switch to gas or electric stoves because coal was needed for the war and how that was hard because most farms weren't on the electric grid so they needed generators--and coping with equipment shortages so that the blacksmiths suddenly became very important again is fascinating.

There's also series for Victorian Farm and Edwardian Farm. The historical stuff available on You Tube is wonderful.
