Because books.

After all these years you'd think I'd have figured that out.

I only realized it about six months ago.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I did it last year and didn't get to every store. Sort of the usual suspects that I go to and a few others. But this year, the yarn truck will be participating. A yarn truck! whoa.

I also just found a Takhi pattern book with a sweater I love and adore. Mebbe in all my copious spare time (now that cookies are winding down) I should do a sweater?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If we want an image thread, that's easy enough for me to not subscribe to but if we're adding images to other threads, less easy to avoid

I'm trying to stick to the former--although any of you can turn images off any time you want (or have them off by default and you choose to turn them on), it's probably simpler to have them all in designated, probably new, places.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

It's a pretty big change to our culture. But overall internet culture is pretty different these days than a decade ago.

I finished my build! It's the SO's bass for tour. I got the electronics working, including the preamp, so I'm pretty happy with myself. Had plenty of errors, but mostly immediately fixable ones. The one funky one was that the volume control is backwards. But it's usable for tour, and I can tinker with it after he gets home.

Tomorrow I'm going to try to reglue my three string, and then I'll hopefully finish its electronics (with magnetic pickups, woo) on Saturday. It doesn't need to be done for tour, but if it's awesome, I want to have it available.

True. But if there are images posted throughout the threads, it's going to change the conversation. I'm not sure this distinction makes sense outside of my head so I am more than willing to try and put it into more words if it doesn't. I read b.org and I look at Tumblr.

I'm pretty aware of who is posting things here as I read them. I care a lot less who is posting things on Tumblr. And I follow a lot of y'all on Tumblr by choice. It's just different. A different format and a different interaction.

Hmm. I just had a thought--we can hide images in a few ways. They can be styled invisible, and people who want to see them can change their style sheet to make them visible, and you could also style them NSFW and you could be set to see images, but not NSFW.

There's a lot of there there--the hard part is: how easy do you make it to post?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

It totally makes sense.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I am staying in a hotel for one night for a meeting out of town. I had to drive 45 minutes or so for the meeting and the first thing I did when I got to the room (after I took pics of the view) was take a shower.

I wasn't on a transatlantic flight or anything so it seems weird for me to do it, but it is my habit after checking in.

What is the first thing you do after you check into a hotel room?
