I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I get to talk to my crazy manager tomorrow about the fact that I'm moving. She is my functional manager. My project manager, who is less crazy, does not want to have me working long-distance on a permanent basis, but suggested a six-month transition period.

I am both fine with this (because I am ready to not work for the government any more) and indignant (good luck replacing me, buddy, and I could TOTALLY work long-distance and it would be fine).

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I will be. I'm trying to finish up work first so I can give it my full attention.

Yeah, you can't really multitask with this episode.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Great news for Taylor, sarameg. And great news for you, ~t.

ugh, so a friend of mac is downloading game ROMs and using emulators to play game system games on her pc and her parents are fine with it, telling her it is ok and legit. Now I am the big bad guy telling mac that it is illegal and we are not going to do it.

Cody is really careful about that kind of thing too, msbelle, but there are some cool games that are available for free. Although my kids are way younger than mac, but I think Minecraft appeals across many ages, no? And there is a Lord of the Rings online that my kids got into but it was a bit too scary for them once they got past the basic training and had to go into old mines and fight ghosts.

Good on you, msbelle. Even though I have no idea what exactly that girl is doing. t /clueless

Some of my friends from Guilco on fb are reaching out to Taylor with info, both on and off fb. Shit, I might have to start giving to the scholarship fund. (I had very very very testy dealings with the bursars/F.Aid office during my time there. It was, at the time, so poorly run, it broke my confidence in their ability to responsibly manage donations. Also, I really resented being pressed into cold-calling for $$ as a part of one of my scholarships. ) I loved the school, feel I got an excellent education, was cognizant of the insularity of such a small school, and got really tired of crunchy-granola-hippies, tie-dye, blond dreadlocks and tattoos. But I truly learned how to be a fast and flexible learner, how to think creatively and effectively communicate. Which is what I think undergrad should do. Many of my peers went on into careers that appeared to have nothing to do with their majors, which I think just shows the effectiveness of Guilco. CN-midwives, drs who were english and polisci majors. Math majors who now as lawyers have amicus briefs before the SC.

I need to get over the screaming matches I had over in New Garden Hall with the Bursar.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Okay, just an update on healthcare shenanigans, I submitted a receipt for reimbursement for 2 dental fillings.

The FSA rejected it, literally saying "Reason:

"

So no reason given. I mean goddamnit, these people want me to lose my shit on the phone, don't they?

Hrm, more cop activity at the alley Across Ellesrlie (this is a 'hood dividing line) and it sounds like the cops are exchanging exuberant arrest stories. Loudly. Which makes me wonder if it just happened. And what the hell it was, since they've been a pretty visible presence the past couple of weeks.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Well, le nubian, I wonder if you can reject their rejection since it's for no reason?
