Did any of you guys become infatuated with certain music after the age of 30 (a different music than what you already loved by age 25)? I would love to hear your experiences.
I became a MCR fan in 2007-ish, and the only thing different between now and my teen/twenties music fandom is that I have the disposable income so I can go to out-of-state concerts and buy limited edition merch. Otherwise, I'm still the obsessive fangirl about a band I like.
ION, some quick notes from yesterday's Emerald City Comic Con:
- Donning blackface for a costume is in poor taste. I don't care if you want to cosplay Geordi La Forge, you are a middle-aged white dude and it is TACKY.
- There's a local church that is actively trying to recruit gamers and geeks, and has a booth with a bunch of swag emblazoned with JESUS (hearts) GAMERS!, and images of Jesus holding an Xbox controller. I am a bad person for finding this hilarious, right?
- I met the BEST RDJ impersonator ever. Ever. When I asked him for a photo, he replied
"Anything for my public. Come over here, sweetheart."
I will admit, I swooned a little. [link]
What got your attention that started you listening?
There was a long Sherlock fic about Mycroft and Lestrad, and in it Lestrad was a big Clash fan. The author included some titles, so I looked them up on YouTube and enjoyed them. My upstairs neighbor learned I was interested and introduced me to Strummer's later work. I think I have most of it now. It's great to have on when I'm cleaning or baking.

I sincerely hope they also think it's hilarious. Due to it being hilarious.
A friend of mine is at ECCC. I'm going to tell her that if she sees you, Jilli, she should come up and tell you she knows me. If you don't mind.
It just seems weird when people I know are at the same venue and they don't know each other.

I don't mind at all!
Today is my day off from the show, as I've got other things I need to take care of. But Pete is there, and then we'll both be back at his table tomorrow.
Excellent! My worlds will collide. I believe she has crashed already - she works nights and is zombified. But she'll be there tomorrow.
right? I thought they called them "churches", but apparently I'm a godless freak who doesn't know Jesus.
I also thought they called them churches too, and I had no idea they accepted CREDIT CARDS. What the what?!?

How do people not know this yet?
We spent the morning at Google LA. After the event they gave us a tour. I knew they had lots of food and games there, but it still amused me that they have a little cafe set up every 50 feet or so. Because God forbid you have to walk too far for coffee.
I'm sure a "Christian Center" is a bigger thing than just a church -- probably a school, maybe a store, lots of space for small groups, etc -- my uncle's church has a Starbucks.

Because awake parishoners are more fun.
