We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Yeah, it's actually gone pretty smoothly, although we have some last-minute repairs to get done this weekend, and my brother needs to rent a truck to come pick up furniture. He texted me yesterday asking if a 5x8-foot trailer would be big enough.

Except this is what he's picking up: a queen-sized bed with mattress & box spring; a matching bedside stand; a six-foot-long bureau with a large mirror above it; a dining room set that seats 6 (8 fully extended); a smallish desk; a 7-foot-tall china cabinet with glass doors (which comes apart into two pieces, thank FSM). Oh, and a dolly.

A small trailer will NOT fit all that! Must text him again, he needs to rent a truck.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay, condo sale!

That's very cool, Theo, the widget hooked up to Good Things.

I just ordered some more work appropriate pants because I've gone down another size, which is nice as I have been working on losing weight, but I am nowhere near done so I am buying stuff that I won't mind not letting go of in a couple more months, which is a strange mindset for shopping. I really need to find the power cable for my sewing machine so I can learn how to tailor the things I don't want to let go, but I'm pretty sure it's out in the shed and I plan to stay on the couch as much as possible today.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A small trailer will NOT fit all that! Must text him again, he needs to rent a truck.

Or a TARDIS trailer.

or it will all fit on the trailer if some of it is left on the curb.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Yay on the condo sale, hope the rest of the packing goes smoothly.

I tweaked my neck last night in my sleep. Ouch! I'm hoping that naproxen does the trick.

Or multiple trips! Congrats on getting that off the list.

Next available haircut appointment: in 2 weeks. Gah. I'm glad she's doing so well, but I am so sick of my hair. I wanted it cut a MONTH ago. Stupid car.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm alternately sorting through things to get rid of and teaching myself HTML5. Neither of these things is very inspiring. I did discover that I have at least five copies of Eight Cousins in various editions. They're all pretty old, but sadly not valuable.

I can't figure out what to do with books that are really worthless, such as ones with torn covers or paperbacks from that era in which the glue failed and all the pages are loose. I can't seem to bring myself to put them in the recycling bin.

information libertarian

I am currently re-reading The Nine Tailors and the copy has completely fallen apart (it's a 1970s paperback.) I need a ribbon to keep it together. But I also feel weird about recycling it when I am done. I have read this volume easily 20 times.

Because books.

Those are really pretty. I'd make one of those.

I haven't read Eight Cousins since ... probably since I was a kid. What was the other one? An Old-Fashioned Girl? I was too addicted to Little Women to stray far from it for long.
