Do y'all sprout all the avocado pits? I do it almost compulsively and now I have 5 little trees (out of many many pits, my failure rate is quite high, which is where the compulsion to keep trying comes in), so maybe I should stop. But if I ever get excess fruit on them I will work on Buffistas care packages (I have no fruit on them thus far, they are tiny little saplings, some not even in dirt yet, this is a long term plan).
My Accountemps interview went much better than I expected. Turns out I was looking at the wrong number on my assessment results and I actually did pretty well. We'll see if that turns into jobs.
I really wanted to, but I tried the once and it didn't work. So I quit.
Apparently persistence not one of my strong traits.
I sprouted one once and then couldn't figure out what to do with it! But I'm not really one for plants.
I wonder how an avocado tree would do in the Northeast without a greenhouse.
If you are looking to hand off some of the sproutings, I know of a back yard you can try.
In that case, maybe I will keep sprouting them. Then when my porch is full, I'll export. Did you ever decide what to plant in place of that plum tree, Lee?
Timelies all!
I like avocados, but usually get my fix in restaurants. I'm not sure I'd be able to tell a ripe one from a non-ripe one.

I think lemon, but I have to wait until I get out of the land of Car repairs mean no money first.
I sprout avocadoes all the time. My grandmother (in PA) had a HUGE potted avocado tree in her living room, it was a thing of glory. But you are unlikely to ever get fruit from them, as you would need to have both a male and a female tree (and no, i have no idea how to sex a tree) per what I read years ago when I was in San Diego and hoping to get my own little fruit grove in the backyard. Also, the fruit you buy in the store is usually genetically infertile. But they sure are pretty!!!

Flowers = male
Fruit = female
That said, I have no idea how one pollinates an avocado.
