My sister just texted me this about Dad's Xmas stocking:
"Dad still needs a rain gauge with big numbers. And nuts."
I snorted coffee, even though I know she means cans of mixed nuts, which he loves.

I thought the nuts were for the rain gauge.
Argh. Not only have we not had cable or Internet (or a functional back yard for the dog and cat since the fence blew away) since the massive windstorm on Thursday, we have apparently now lost power. I guess there was more wind last night. So much for decorating for Christmas and getting work done today.
Ugh, Kristin.
Happy birthday, amych!
Laundry is done (although not put away), and secret santa presents are wrapped.
That sucks, Kristin.
Happiest birthday, amych!
We're eating biscuits and watching Teen Titans this morning.
Ugh, Pix.
As far as I know, the nuts are for his mouth, and Dad just like to know how much preciptitation has happened.
So. Dan's goiing to get me my wrist tat for my Xmas present.
I'm going with "electio" (the Latin for choice; there's several words, but that's the one I like the best) but I'm having trouble deciding on fonts. I'm debating between Jellyka Delicious (under Calligraphy)or Pennybridge (under Gothic - Medieval) on dafonts.com
Thoughts? It will be about an inch, inch and a half, on the inside of my right wrist, under the thumb part, the hand I use the most (the choosing hand, as it were.) I've got plenty of time to decide, as it won't happen til after Xmas but I want to make the right choice.
Timelies, all! I hope it's sunny & pleasant where you all are. It's cool but beautiful here.
And... I'm off to get a pedicure and go fondle ebook-readers at Best Buy (I need to tell my parents what to get me for Christmas). Gotta decide whether I want an eInk-based reader or if I'm ready to make the leap to the Kindle Fire.
Kristin, I hope you guys get your power back soon! I was lucky this week--didn't lose power, and while I lost the lid to my garbage can, someone stole the entire can just a few hours later, so I'm getting the whole thing replaced by the garbage company...
What is the point of an emergency email procedure if everyone's not checking email? I've also called and texted for approval, and I only have two of the three I need.
Also, I spent a *lot* of time asking the tech what went wrong, and he didn't tell me, so I went with the most likely in the explanation, and lo--I was incorrect. So I have to correct myself in front of 50 people. Nice play, developer, nice play.
Good god, I'm grumpy. Sleep would be nice.
Theo,
It's the situation I posted about a few months ago. The group my lab is part of is in the process of shutting down. As I am a federal employee, I will get a job somewhere, but I need to get myself into the system. Hence the cv.(Mind you, my lab is still going full throttle on experiments. Not to mention that since I'm apparently the One Who Knows Where Everything Is I'm still needed.)
Happy birthday, amych!!
Tattoo squee, Erin! I'm not a font person so I can't help with the selection, but I'm excited for you!!
Pix, I hope your power is restored quickly. That sucks mightily. Or blows mightily, I guess.
