If I can't guess/remember the sex of a baby, I'll generally just avoid pronouns altogether until someone tells me the baby's name. ("How is your little one?" etc)

That's cool. I have frequently fantasized about making a wood Advent calendar with small, craftsy ornaments inside. But I don't start thinking about it until it's almost xmas and after xmas is over I stop thinking about it. So it never happens.
