Awww, I'm very touched, ita.
I am semi-convinced that the people behind Monster High (and especially Draculaura) are studying me as market research. I mean, c'mon, a vampire girl who wears black and pink? With a parasol?
On Halloween, one of the kidlings that came to our door was dressed as Draculaura. I complimented her on her costume, and she looked a little stunned.
"YOU know who Draculaura is?"
she asked.
"Yes. I have one of the dolls!"
I told her. She grinned, and I gave her extra candy.
For me arguing about gypped was because I was offended and wanted to make that clear.
Clarity achieved.
I will say on that subject that when I've returned to that discussion in my mind, it's not the logical coherence of either position that I'm pushing about but what I value. Reflexive feelings about resisting limits on speech vs. potential offense modulate more towards "what is the real limit on speech here instead of potential" vs. actual offense.
And that's probably a more common use of argument to me. Articulating values, which can be emotional and unexamined, is where I'm getting something out of an argument.
Jilli, no cranberry sauce??? WTF???
Get some cranberries (not sauce) and I'll make some.
The rum-raisin ginger cranberry sauce I made yesterday was amazing, but we ate it all.
Yes you can.
I meant Allyson couldn't, duh.
Jilli, no cranberry sauce??? WTF???
I KNOW.
Get some cranberries (not sauce) and I'll make some.
Muah-ha-ha! Okay, I will do that.
I really could have slept straight through until about 1pm today. Pete figured he should roust me by 11:30, and I see the sense in that, but wow. I've had a pot of tea and I still feel like I could go right back to bed.
Ahhh, first plate of Thanksgiving leftovers consumed.
And now as part of my ongoing survey of strange musicals: Bugsy Malone.

I LOVE THAT MOVIE. With an unholy passion. I think I need to own it, and the soundtrack.

It's pretty cool.
I think it's only available on DVD as an import, but I have seen it at Amoeba. I picked up this VHS at Amoeba for $4.
Btw, Jilli, did you get that link I sent to you for the Kate Bush xmas special from '78 (or so)?
