I had a plate of leftovers for breamfast. Mostly because thanks to my own personal idiocy I had too much wine with the apps and had to go lie down during most of dinner. By too much, I mean 1.5 glasses. Damn that Asian alcohol response.

But a quick lie down and I was okay by dessert. So I didn't completely miss the meal.

Steph, let me validate you. YOU ARE RIGHT. You can absolutely compost coffee filters, whether in a backyard pile or a vermicomposting system.

Oh, we've been composting them for 4 years and we have excellent compost. I just didn't want to get into it on FB. This woman was preaching about how tea bags are excellent, and coffee grounds are magical in compost, but coffee filters are the devil and cannot be composted and therefore destroy the environment because they go in landfills.

(Which all started from a discussion about the Keurig and other single-cup coffeemakers and how much waste they produce, etc. So this woman was fervently clinging to her moral high ground of only using a French press. Which makes good coffee [but might kill you with the its effects on cholesterol], but is just not a morally superior coffee preparation method, DAMN.)

I had leftover pie crust for breakfast. No, seriously: when I make a pie and have leftover pastry dough, I roll it out thin and brush it with milk, cinnamon & sugar, and then roll it into a tube and bake it with the pie. That's what I had for breakfast. It's a family thing: I don't know if anyone else does that.

There's a Mormon hymn--maybe others use it--called "Love at Home." Hubby and I raised some eyebrows in the store when we modified it to "There's beauty all around / when there's pie at home." Though to give the locals credit, several did snicker and agree.
