Fire? Like burning books? It was the first thing that came to mind when they announced the new device. Of course I don' t know what Amazon's intention was but I can't believe nobody there didn't think of the association.
Natter 69: Practically names itself.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Isn't the ad some quote about books kindling ideas?
Yeah, they use some quote, I think.
It never occurred to me it would be about burning books -- when I heard "Kindle" the first time, I sort of imagined a light in the dark, like a light to read by. Which is dumb because it isn't backlit, but I didn't know that then.
I had to think a moment about the name, too, then thought it was just clever, as in what do you get when you kindle something? You get fire. It never occurred to me to think about burning books.
Not that I think the devices themselves are evil or the people who use them! Obviously!
Someone kick my ass, please. I have so much do get done in the next 24 hours.
(gently kicks Jen in the ass, so as to impart forward momentum)
Thank you Anne; one load in, bringing the rest out now, then hauling boxes out to sort through office crap and throw away what I can...
You can do it, JenP!!!! (hope cheerleading is as welcome as asskicking!)
Absolutely, thank you!!
We've been rained in on a Sunday. So I took the bus to TJ's and got Le Grande Indulgence, aka Brie en Croute. I only dare serve it a few times a year as I fear I'm applying plaque directly to the artery walls of my loved ones. But it's so good.
I need some fancy hot chocolate now.
