I mean, let's say you did kill us. Or didn't. There could be torture. Whatever. But somehow you found the goods. What would your cut be?

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Happy Birthday, PiBaby!

Congratulations, Juliana and Martin!

I'm so happy to be able to come in here and see good news being shared. We've had way too much of the other kind and the universe owes us a little good to balance it out. Yeah, I know, the universe doesn't care, but I do and aren't I the center of the my universe?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Always more pictures, Nilly! And happy birthday to the PiBaby!

Also,

(he didn't just learn a new language - he learned the whole concept of having a language, and then went ahead and started having one),

Isn't that the most amazing thing? I mean, babies and kids are doing all these things for the first time ever! (I am reminded of being at a friend's house the first time her baby threw up. Less amazing as a thing, but still so interesting. She was so offended by the taste in her mouth! Anyway....)

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Happy birthday, PiBaby! Your huge smiles brighten up my day whenever I'm lucky enough to see pictures of them.

And congratulations to Juliana and M!

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Happy Birthday, PiBaby!

Congratulations, Juliana and Martin!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Steven Pinker says that babies essentially teach themselves to think (with some help by parents who talk a lot to and around the baby) and "it's the most amazing intellectual feat that a human ever does in its lifetime."

Hippo birdies, Amitai!

Unrelatedly, I ran across a FoaF on Facebook named Lee Perkins, and had to double-check who that was, just in case.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

It's true! Babies are awesome.

And PiBaby is a year old! We'll have to start calling him PiToddler now.
