They think that's how birth control works, that all of these "sluts" are taking hundreds of birth control pills every month because they have to take one right before sex.
And they're LEGISLATING this stuff.
I don't understand why they don't know how this works. And people everywhere are HORRIFIED.
It's kind of like, have you ever had an acquaintance that you suspected was sort of a dick, and then you're at a party or something and the person just goes off on a deeply racist/sexist rant, expecting everyone to agree, and you're all just sort of embarrassed for him/her? And you don't know what to do but step away?
It's like this is happening on a grand scale.

are you sure they think that or they are playing dumb? That is certainly the implication in the kinds of questions they are asking, but it did not occur to me they actually THOUGHT that. You know, maybe they are that ignorant. They think BC pills work like viagra.
