Did you make a sponge that isn't bubbling? Is it cold? That'll slow down the yeast.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
we're not talking about single mother's or contraception anymore, are we?
ION, rooibos/vanilla tea? THE YUM!!
There are all kinds of reasons why people are single parents (or functional single parents) and if they want to shame people, I have no use for you and I hope the good people of WI will vote you promptly out of office.
Oh yeah, to be absolutely clear, I agree with you le n. The bill can only be motivated by the wrong reasons, with the intent to shame for no good reason.
Now I'm not sure the yeast activated. Do I dump in the flour and mix it and possibly waste 6.5 cups of flour? Hmm.
No you don't, you get more yeast and start over. I'm not much of a baker, but I'm pretty sure the whole point of proofing the yeast is to see if it's working before you waste all your time and flour making a bread that won't rise properly.
How fucked up is this? My new hire just had his year end review with his old manager. Halfway through, after going through his scores and comp online, she noticed she was sharing her entire desktop as a Livemeeting. At least two of his former coworkers were logged in, though hopefully not still actually watching.
I mean, it's no single parent bill, but still.
See and now I read -t's post and think I gave Amy the wrong advice. So take my advice with a grain of salt?

brenda,
what a massive fuckup.
I've usually found that, if there's any little bit of bubbling at all, the yeast is fine. The only time it hasn't been was when there were absolutely no bubbles at all. And I think that modern dry yeast doesn't go bad as often as the old kind did.
That's not a massive fuckup. A massive fuckup would be four layers of management doing something obviously boneheaded, and not realizing the consequences of their actions until it was far too late, and pissing off a whole bunch of important people in the process.
Hypothetically, I mean.
Is it cold?
I think the water wasn't cold enough. It didn't bubble. So do I ... heat up the mixture a little? If I just add more hot water then it'll be too wet, I assume.
I missed Hil's post. Hmmm. I'm going to stare at it for a while longer, I think.
HYPOTHETICALLY.
