Yeah, the emphasis on quarterly results and managing stock prices so the rich get richer has played havoc with the long run.
When American Experience did a film about it a couple of years ago, I couldn't figure out why other people didn't know the story at all, but I was so into it. ("Into it" in a horrified way, I mean.)
It's part of NYU's campus now, since 1926 or so, and there was stuff up everywhere about it. I feel like I knew about it before that, though.
I definitely knew about it before I lived in NYC, so that's why I'm thinking it was the tv movie. I mean, not that I don't know random things from who knows where.
I'd be interested in seeing the movie now through adult eyes because I was traumatized as a kid. nightmares. all that.
The American Experience one was pretty traumatic for me just recently, so.
I'd really like to see the American Experience one.
I treated myself to a white chocolate mocha after lunch with a fellow writer (whoo! right here in town!), and I'm still yawning. Isn't there supposed to be espresso in there or something?
I should have. The coffee shop that's adjacent to the music shop where we work for extra cash is doing training today. I could have stopped by and gotten free espresso. But I didn't, 'cause I'm an idiot.
Also, I'm now hungry.
