I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Sugar processing is pretty scary, too. I took the train that goes past the C+H plant yesterday, and there's a big tank of sulfuric acid right there (and something else fairly frightening and not what I associate with sugar but not, I guess, as memorable). Which is maybe not a strong argument, but I keep chlorine bleach in the house and I wouldn't want sulfuric acid lying around. Which almost makes some kind of point?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

If you're unfamiliar with the evils of dihydrogen monoxide...

Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide!

Dihydrogen monoxide is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills uncounted thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes severe tissue damage. Symptoms of DHMO ingestion can include excessive sweating and urination, and possibly a bloated feeling, nausea, vomiting and body electrolyte imbalance. For those who have become dependent, DHMO withdrawal means certain death.

More at the link.

eta: Of course, the chemical industry says, "Without dihydrogen monoxide, life itself would be impossible." OK, that's technically true....

"...and then Legolas and the Hulk destroy the entire Greek army." - Penny Arcade

Leading to the question, is there a Specific Hooker Entrance?

Yes, but it can only be used by Companions moving at constant velocity. Those undergoing acceleration must use the General Hooker Entrance.

Unrelatedly......

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

OK, 3 of 4 vaguely onerous tasks accomplished. Last and most important of the tasks? Still undone. phooey. And kitty needs to go to the vet tomorrow for an ultrasound of her liver. sigh.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, BTW, I did sleep much better last night, and feel like a totally new person today. So that's good.

I was going to say it will never snow here again, but apparently we're getting some slush overnight and tomorrow.

Thrive to spite them

It snowed last night and some today, but not a lot. And earlier there was ice melting from the roof, then it snowed, and now we're back to melting.

The Winter Carnival got cancelled due to a lack of winter. In fact I think most of the outdoor activities through the City Rec Center got cancelled.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Actually stems from a Civil War general whose camps were somewhat notorious.

Nope. Was a joke at the time, because the general of that name kept a couple permanently on staff, so when a lady asked innocently "who are those women?" she was answered "They are Hooker's." But the term "hooker" was already in use. It was pun, not a new coinage.
