Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So, no one tells me today is when my father is having the cataract surgery. They send me a text telling me he's had the surgery, and one-eyed-Jack photographs (who is that, BTW?), but that's how my family rolls.

I'm not ready to deal yet. In fact, I took a sick morning off work, and should be resting more.

Hmm, I just had a good meeting on a potential long-term project that will have very high visibility and might involve a four-way partnership. Go me.

And then I came back to my desk and applied for the job that my retiring coworker left open. Given the bullshit with getting hired back into my own job, I'm not sanguine, but this is a higher grade, so there may be fewer veterans on the short list. We'll see.

I put my boss down as a reference: he may be surprised by that, but he can't think I wouldn't apply, I hope.

Now I'm beginning to worry that my job will be posted while I'm in Spain. Argh.

Would it get you away from your nemesis?

Would it get you away from your nemesis?

Kind of. It would be a senior position doing national-level things, and while I would still be working with her (probably), it would be on projects that she prioritizes more highly than the stuff I do now. Which is part of the problem.

Also, I would be senior to her! If not in her chain of command.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

So in case you guys were wondering, the Earth is not rotating. This guy on YouTube says so.

Take that, SCIENCE.

Is it the Time Cube guy?

Thanks for the cleaning post, Jesse! I'm amused by the "make the bed to start" suggestion--some time long long ago my mom made me read a like, "how to clean your room as a kid!" book or something, and the one thing I remember and continued to do is start by taking everything off the bed, and making it, and then take everything off the floor and put it on the bed (well, these days I usually take any stray dirty laundry and put that in the hamper rather than the bed...and these days there are fewer books living in the bed or floor thanks to the kindle...)

Kato views clothes as a curse from the devil. Chloe loved them. Pets is weird.

I don't think so - the text isn't centered on the screen and there are no blink tags.

I sent the link to my brother (who does genetics research at Mass General) and he said it was like watching a baby who hasn't yet learned object permanence try to do science.

brillig

It's hard to make the bed when I get up, because Hubby and the cat are still in it.
