And you're sure this isn't just some fanboy thing? 'Cause I've fought more than a couple pimply, overweight vamps that called themselves Lestat.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Although you might get your refrigerator really, really clean.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Or maybe get a start volunteering to take glamor shots of rescue animals

Sean Casey is in desperate need of this service.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

With the web, you can get started without a lot of initial investment. If you focus on outdoor and at home photography at the beginning, I think you can get by with what you have, with maybe some lighting.

eta: Glamor shots of rescue animals [link] It would also be a great way to practice.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Toddson's idea is in fact brilliant! I just read a couple of articles about rescue groups and shelters who've had good photographers volunteer to do proper portraits of their animals, and how their adoption rates bounced up as a result. And you could probably do some quickie business cards, with a thumbnail of your portrait of Suela's dog or the two dogs in shirts, for not much at all -- Vistaprints is always running one special or another.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've lost track, are we helping or not helping at this point?

Lee, I think you should have a Vietnamese sandwich so you can give me an even more comprehensive report on the available food near your house. I need to know these things.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Or maybe get a start volunteering to take glamor shots of rescue animals - you'd get to meet people, get some photos for your portfolio, find out if it was something you were interested in.

Yep, that was my suggestion too. The shelter we volunteer with has a couple of photographers that take the pictures of the animals that go up on Petfinder. Seems like it would be a great way to get experience.

Because books.

Consuela, your dog really is sweet-faced. What's her name, if you don't mind me asking? I can't figure out what the initials would stand for.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

You make a very good point!

Okay!

I will also be cleaning and doing taxes this weekend.

I also have a 3 day weekend after all, but for reasons I violently do not like.

Her name is Magda. Online, I call her The New Girl, because I got her a year after my old dog (a ridiculously sweet lab/chow mix) died.

I like Toddson's idea, too.

Tom, my family is going to be totally jealous of my fabulous portrait of TNG--they all have dogs too, but we've never done the photo thing with them much.
