Update from yesterday's drama.
After spending most of the morning closeted with the HR person, we did manage to step things back from the ledge a bit. Still, a brutal conversation to have, and while K is going on a "Performance Improvement Plan" next week, I don't know that anything has really been resolved. She was shocked and hurt and a bit defensive, not entirely without reason. I just don't know how this all resolves.
Everything around here is so political anymore, and I'm trying to walk a very fine line of doing right by her, fixing the problem, preserving my own credibility and, hopefully, keeping a good friend. And, you know, doing my day job. Oof.
Sounds very tricky. Good luck, brenda!
BUT! I mentioned yesterday that I got name-checked at a dinner of Very Important bigwigs the other night. It occured to me later that one of those 20 or so people in the room was Roger Staubach. I am totally unreasonably gleeful about that. For no good reason - it's not like he'd likely remember or care or whatever. But still!
Slightly gross details:
I'm not throwing up any more, but I was up several times in the night with diarrhea.
Anyway, the doctor's guess is that it's some kind of infection, whether viral or bacterial, that I may have picked up while traveling. I have a few things I can do starting tomorrow if I have another difficult night.
I also think if I miss five days at work, I have to get medically approved to come back, so I'm a little stressed about that.
Oh Dana, such a bummer. The only thing I can recommend is lots of gatorade or a similar drink (the old water-sugar-salt combo) to keep yourself hydrated during all of this. And plain white rice might help slow down your digestive tract a bit.
Oh, poor Dana. {{hairpats}}
Hmm, cheery things: didja see Kass posted a Dr. Who vid?
Even though I know better, there's still a part of me that's like "Hey, at least I've lost seven pounds!"
Tarsiers - the ultrasonic primate.
medically approved to come back? WTF?
employment policies in some companies kill me.
Medically approved? Or you just a need a doctor's note for being out so many days?
