"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I've found a new logical paradox that's worthy of a name like Zeno's Paradox.

I call it the Caffeine Conundrum, which is what happens when you're stumbling around dropping your coffee beans and spilling the water because it's hard to make coffee before you've had coffee.

This morning I spooned several teaspoons of whole coffee beans into my cup instead of sugar, and only just missed pouring the just-brewed coffee in on top of them.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

That's why teamaking is so ritualized. You keep doing it until it becomes unconscious muscle memory.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

That's why teamaking is so ritualized. You keep doing it until it becomes unconscious muscle memory.

Unless you're like me on some mornings waiting for the kettle to whistle only to realize that I have not turned the burner on.

ION, my son is being an incredible pain in the ass. I can't wait until that halcyon period of rational, thinking-of-others middle childhood kicks in. I mean, an 8 year old has her issues, but on a minute to minute basis is SO much easier than a 5 year old with entitlement issues.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You caffeine seekers are just weird. I'm surprised you're dominant.

I'm going to have a glass of juice now.

Okay, no, I'm going to have tea. But green tea. And only because my stupid apartment is cold. Under the sleep doctor's orders. But I haven't worked out how to balance that with living yet.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

ita, then, the job you have is to listen, which is probably the hardest.

yes, listening and being the container for everyone else's anxiety is hard.

I want to go to stretch class today, but I am a bit worried that I'm coming down with something. My head throbs and I'm feeling queasy, and Cody was sick yesterday. 'Fraid I may not make it to class today.

As for kids in sports, I think we are signing up Isaac for 5 pitch at one of the local parks. I don't think it's LL, think it's just the park's rec center, but his friends are in it. We'll see. Think we won't do soccer for him next year as he spends too much of his time disengaged on the field, whereas Franny may not be great at it, but she's a team player and she likes it.

Because books.

I don't want to know what I would be like with no caffeine. Probably permanently comatose.

Sara's going to play indoor soccer for the next six weeks. And speaking of under-caffeination, the other morning I asked the mom who suggested it if she needed cleats. ::headdesk::

I have brewed an entire pot of coffee only to discover that I forgot to put the grounds in the filter. It made me very sad.

I'm hoping the caffeine staves off my headache right now. If not, I'll need to take something and then stretch class is probably off the table.
