The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

My mother seems to be handling the cancer fiercely right now. I'm not sure that's the healthiest, but it's way better than many of the alternatives. I'm wondering if they explode at each other and don't tell me, because they all seem to be insane about everything. My sister is pretty much forcefeeding her, my father is totally coddling, and she's pretty much about to flip them all the finger and walk herself to chemo, both ways uphill in the rain.

From my perspective (which is admittedly not as a family member of a cancer patient), good for her!

brillig

Percy the Emo Cat is having an inappropriate relationship with a green plushy blanket on the couch

Amon had the same sort of reaction to a red plush blanket. We convinced ourselves that the occasional damp spot was from drool.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Leo kneads on and snuggles his face on the plushy blankets, too, especially if I'm under one of them. But he doesn't get all humpy.

The real downside of Percy's love is the fluffy green bits all over the floor and the couch.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm with her. The only way I could keep at least a tenuous grasp on sanity was to deal with things my way.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

In things that made my day better--I found someone in Redwood City who did electrical work and plumbing and handyman work and had good ratings on Angie's list, so I hired him to come in and fix a few things and do a few things like put up curtain rods and the towel rack that I could do but wouldn't for months and now my house love is back full force!

ita, then, the job you have is to listen, which is probably the hardest.

msbelle, I love the Downton pics. Thanks for posting them.

I am beyond tired and debating signing up Noah for baseball. K is against it. Noah wants to play, but is afraid, I think. And I think it would be good from a socialization perspective. It's not little league, THANK GOD, and we'd have other friends on the team. Maybe I just go to the meeting tomorrow?

YAY house love!

Well, that she's fired up is good for her, though maybe hard on the homestead. In the abstraction, watching close families deal with stress in fascinating and sometimes hilarious in the knots they tie themselves into. Having been in it? Really damned hard.

Enh. Forget baseball. Tomorrow it's a parent's only meeting at 9 and I have N&G without any relief. That decides it.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Man, I just want to shove my mortgage up someone's ass- been reading "The Big Short" by Michael Lewis and just reading about the banking industries' mortgage shenanigans, and it makes me feel like a fool for a) buying a house and b) continuing to pay the mortgage on something that is losing value by the day.

Um, I have anger issues.

Tom, others have said it better than me, but good for you, seriously.

This weekend, I am working, not going to Krewe du Vieux, but going to see Jonathan Coulton and TMBG.
