this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

NYT is reporting that Komen has changed its mind and will maintain PP funding.

Barn door ---> horse.

We will amend the criteria to make clear that disqualifying investigations must be criminal and conclusive in nature and not political.

So, we can assume they'll yank the Penn State funding that LeNubian mentioned above? (I won't hold my breath.)

I want someone to pin them down on that one today, and sit back to see how much farther they can backpedal.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Our original desire was to fulfill our fiduciary duty to our donors by not funding grant applications made by organizations under investigation.

OMG! How much bullshit do they expect us to swallow? It was 100% politically motivated. Lying sacks of shit who lie.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Pink gun has issues bigger than taste. One reason water pistols are brightly colored is so that they don't get mistake for, you know, actual pistols.

(Poor Darbs. It's a shame you can't just tell her to relax, you know?)

Oh, I tell her. And tell her.

She's fine, really. She'll get over this sooner or later - like say, when she gets back home where this shit will not fly.

Heh. Stupid people. What did they think was going to happen?

ION, an aquaintance of mine runs this site: [link]

It's kind of awesome: she posts great videos dissecting popular media from a Feminism 101 perspective--the latest one is on the way Lego is issuing a girls' package of toys, which are all pink and purple and focused on baking and salons. ::gags::

Apparently she's doing so well that the anti-feminist assholes have found her and ... well, you know what happens to women on the internet when they dare to talk about being women on the internet. Pisses me off. She's totally awesome and nothing she says is particularly new or challenging.

And since that is totally a clear and non-subjective standard there should be no problem!

Is there a check-box on the front of investigation cover pages, I wonder?

Legitimacy: ___Spurious ____For reals

The sad thing is, Sara plays with the Legos we have once in a while, but not too often anymore. And she saw that commercial and *immediately* wanted that Lego set. Very disheartening.

t sigh

I grew up with the old Legos, before they even made the little figures or anything. It was just the blocks in different shapes and colors, so it never occurred to me that they could be gendered. They were just blocks, which I used to make space ships and horses and everything in between.

I suspect the development of the more structured toys--castles and Harry Potter tie-ins and whatnot--are part of what's created this divide.

Also Komen foundation is still leaving room to weasel out on future grants.

Exactly. I grew up with the old ones, too, and liked them just fine -- plus Lincoln Logs (my favorite!) and ... damn, the other ones, with the sticks and the wheels and the cogs. Total brain fail there. What the hell were they called?
