Whoo! I'm only a third of the way through Envy, because I'm trying to finish Water for Elephants before it disappears (I borrowed it on the Kindle), but I'll be there before you know it.

Virtual brownies ones are the best kind for me these days.
So I am trying to figure out balancing DH's basketball tournament, my brother's birthday (5 hour round trip away), and the big football game this weekend. Right now I figure to watch the boys in their semi-final tonight, run cross state tomorrow for the birthday party and miss the boys' final, then run back for the football Sunday. Somewhere in there would be the chores and work commitments. I don't think there will be any reading for pleasure in the mix. Boo. Maybe a swim or two.

Dag, how can The Onion possibly stay ahead of this curve?
Jon Stewart is just going to throw up his hands and give That Look.
It's sunny here.
Someone upthread asked about statutes of limitations w/rt Hec's parking ticket. Sadly, I think statutes only apply if you were never charged with something. Like, if I kicked my brother in 1977, but nobody ever went to the police, the statute of limitations on assault has passed.
Here, Hec got a parking ticket so he was actually charged, so the statute doesn't apply. Which totally bites.
I also think it's weird that the State is going after money you presumably owed to the town of Inglewood. That's odd.
FPC: This is the first Friday I've worked in a month, and the first full week I've worked since before Thanksgiving. I'm not loving it.
And I forgot to take an Aleve this morning, and I can already feel my sinuses complaining. Bah.
Michael Bloomberg is apparently matching $250k worth of Planned Parenthood donations. Huh.
However, she said grants would continue this year to three of the 19 Planned Parenthood affiliates — in Denver, California's Orange County and Waco, Texas — because they served clientele with few other breast-screening options.
The Orange County group said yesterday that they are still funded because their contact at the local Komen office called them all aflutter in mid-December and said they had to scurry and get their grant app in TODAY - not said at the time but had the result of getting it through approval before the "rule change".
IOW, as Hec said, lying pieces of shit.
Dilemma: Switch seems completely uninterested in the wet food we got for him. Is this just a matter of figuring out what he likes? He's only ever eaten dry food till now, although he did sometimes eat some wet kitten food when he was tiny. (Cortez seems uninterested in the wet food, too. What's wrong with them?!)
Switch is also not drinking water, which is what he needs right now with the UTI, and I can't figure it out because he usually drinks water happily.

Can you add a little water to the dry food to make it mooshy, and see if he'll eat that? Or, maybe not water, but chicken broth or tuna juice?
Signed,
Has a cat with frequent UTIs (but she loves the canned food, so I don't have any suggestions there)
That's an idea. Thanks!

IME, the answer is to have your boyfriend pretend to eat a bowl of the stuff and then feed it to the animal spoonful by spoonful until it is gone, pausing to mimic eating it yourself every few spoonfuls.
Or at any rate, that's what's going on at my sister's house this week. I'm sure it applies in all cases.
