Thanks, Erin and meara! I've got a CVS and a Walgreens close to the office. I just hope I can place it at the right spot on my back. It's right in the middle.
Tom, I'm glad you're getting something. Six months will help.

Six month severance is really good, Tom! I think JZ has great advice: sign up with head-hunters and then give yourself two or three weeks to decompress and shoot a lot of pictures. With six months you have some breathing room to make some decisions.
Good luck with the interview, Jesse!
Me, I've learned that when they finally get around to re-hiring me, I'll be working for the manager I secretly refer to as Eeyore. Sigh. I like my current boss: he can't fix everything (and he really doesn't understand why I complain about My Nemesis), but he's creative and smart, willing to be a bit non-traditional in service of the organization. And Eeyore is, well. Eeyore. "It'll never work..."
And Eeyore has said straight out that he doesn't think I'm a good fit for his department, and he doesn't want to be responsible for the program I run. I agree with him about being a bad fit, and now I'm faced with potentially years of trying to run a program without my manager's support, while he tries to redirect me into doing the work he wants to do instead...
Argh.
OMG, I AM SURROUNDED BY INFIDELS! ::weeps::
HA! It is YOU, my friend, who are the aesthetic-lacking philistine!
oh Tom! I am so sorry. 6 months is good though, and yes, take some walk around picture days, and double yes, get on with a few recruiters. You want I should ask my friends in IT who they use?
If you feel like a change of scenery, you know where there is a guest bed for you.
Consuela, it really sounds that by staying there you are setting yourself for a miserable day to day situation.
Oh Tom, I am so sorry.
ita ! too.
Oh, yuck, Tom. They let go of a very good person.
I survived my call and the project manager is very happy with what I have pulled together for her. Once we have this new process up and running, she wants to show it off to others - bringing me more work. Woot? I'm just ready for a nap, then I can jump back into the next steps for this.
ita, I am so sorry for your loss.
tom, I am sorry about the layoff. I know you weren't happy there, so my hope is that this turns out to be the push to a better job that is more fulfilling with more compatible colleagues.
2 consecutive days of full day groupthink meetings means that this introvert is at her desk, eating tylenol.

Am not! [link] [link] [link] [link] [link]
Tom, I'm so sorry! I hope that this leads to something awesome and better and just what you need, but I really wish it hadn't happened this way.
ita, I'm so sorry for your loss.
