Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Of all things to come back, I would not have predicted side ponytails!

I'd have listed that before the glittery skinny headband. Crazycakes in any case.

Day three of the ick has started with minimal head congestion, but with an added invisible ice pick to the temple. And utter exhaustion. Just got dinner going in the slow cooker and I'm done for the day.

I'm so behind on The Good Wife.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

well ... last Friday I went to an educational session about diabetes - my doctor encouraged it and, since it was two hours in the morning, I took a personal day off to attend. Schlepped through a major rain storm, got soaked, and got there only five minutes late (I was the first patient to make it). Sat through a presentation which didn't really tell me anything new.

What pisses me off is that a dietician/nutritionist (not sure which she was, but she has advanced degrees in something) did a presentation and handed out "personalized" sample menus. My problem with the menu for me is (1) it almost doubles my current caloric intake and (2) suggests grapefruit for breakfast (which conflicts with at least one of my medications). So ... unless counteracting most of the effects of Lipitor and taking me from obese to morbidly obese are good things, I'm going to ignore her menu plan.

All in all, it was a waste of a day off.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Oh, that's irritating, Toddson. I hope you tell your doc it was shite, so s/he doesn't make the same rec to others.

Because books.

Verified case of pertussis at Sara's school. How does that even happen when they're all supposed to be vaccinated just to be there?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Pertussis vaccine only lasts about 10 years - what grade is Sara in? (Booster shots are not usually on the mandated list, and almost no adults are up to date.)

Because books.

Yeah, it said the booster is given after age eleven, but they're all supposed to have five shots before entering school. Who knows? Sara's in third grade, so she should covered (i.e. she's eight).

Sometimes the vaccines don't work for someone, or don't get to a therapeutic level. Which is why we count on herd immunity, and part of why the whole anti-vax thing is so damn infuriating.

Man, I'm three weeks behind on The Good Wife; clearly I need to catch up.

Yes! yes you do. (there wasn't a new one last week, I think, if that helps) Me, I need to catch up on Downton Abbey

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

All in all, it was a waste of a day off.

this is why I have yet to go to any of the diabetes educational sessions. Toddson, there is a book that comes highly recommended (I have not had a chance to read it yet) - Reversing Diabetes and while that may not be the result for everyone who reads the book and abides by the eating schedule, etc., I think it can help.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

(Booster shots are not usually on the mandated list, and almost no adults are up to date.)

In California they made sure everybody got a booster this summer before they came back to school because it's gotten to be such a problem. I had to take Emmett in for his shot.

le n, thanks for the recommendation. Luckily, I'm on the low end of the scale and can probably keep it under control with diet and exercise. It's just annoying to have someone come up with such an impractical proposal.
