Willow: Something evil-crashed to earth in this. Then it broke out and slithered away to do badness. Giles: Well, in all fairness, we don't really know about the "slithered" part. Anya: No, no, I'm sure it frisked about like a fluffy lamb.

'Never Leave Me'

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I *love* driving on empty or relatively empty highways. I just love the thrill of driving kind of fast on free roads. It makes me feel free (if that makes any sense) and like I could go anywhere.

Driving every day in stoplight traffic with fuckers around me?

Not so much fun.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Water, they recommended. Extra shirt, check. I'm going to have to buy some non-black soled tennies, but since my sneakers are 8 years old and have two holes in the toe anyway, that's no big.

Also, it's going to hurt. Even done right, it will hurt. Try not to let that surprise you or put you off--unless you just don't want it, in which case, don't look back.

I'm anticipating it will hurt. I'm ok with that; I know I'm out of shape, but I also know my body and will stop for a breather if I'm exceeding my limits.

And you know me; I have no problems saying "Fuck this, I have to stop for a minute and if you don't like it, get outta my face and suck it. I don't care how many people you can kill with you pinkie; I can kill you with my brain." Mentally, but yanno.

Being in the Midwest, I'm not surprised by the dearth of women instructors. I'm ok with that, although I love me some ass-kickin' chicks.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Colin's angle fell through. Car doesn't pass his muster. I guess I need to leave the house anyway. Get the pity party started. How does one dress to buy a cheap old car when one is ignorant? Ah, well.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've been really happy with all my furniture from Target (I favor the Tobacco finish in my living room).

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Don't let them get you to sign up for a huge committment before you're sure you want it and can schedule accordingly. The Memphis Krav center got almost a thousand bucks out of me for nothing because they refused to let me out of my contract once work instituted a no-more-flexible-hours policy that was mutually exclusive with all the class times.

Since Erin's a freelancer, scheduling is less of a problem.

ita !, I would dress casually. You go in with nice clothes, they'll try to up-sell.

Matt, I can't afford a huge contract. I would never sign one, but thanks for the tip. The $35 is a huge indulgence, but I've been so curious for so long, and it's next Saturday. And if I like it, I've got chutzpah; I'd go to the owner if it's crazy-pricey and see if I can negotiate a lower price in exchange for webwork or advertising. You don't ask, you don't get.

WEBWORK, not wetwork. Copy or editing, not assassination. I figure they got that down if they need it...

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Oh, and someone told me Cumberbatch is really a ginger, so I had to go look. Apparently, he doesn't like the darker hair because it makes him look too girlish? DUDE. SO not an issue, really. The darker hair is SO much better.

I am totally with you on that, but I feel like everyone else I've heard who has an opinion on him likes him better with his natural hair. Maybe it depends on how you see him first? I don't know. But I *love* him with dark hair and think he looks a bit nondescript and, frankly, not attractive with ginger hair.

ITA, Steph. I think he's rather bland with lighter hair.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

The lighter-haired look worked for him in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, IMO. Then again, he was a very different sort of character in that than he is in Sherlock.
