A Facebook friend of mine posted this exchange she had with her 5 year old:
ME: Frances, do you like any vegetables besides carrots? Have you had any vegetables at school, maybe, that you like?
FRANCES: Hmmm... Vegetables besides carrots that I like... Well, there's carrots... And I also like carrots... Oh! I almost forgot: carrots!
I can't think of a non-crazy way to explain to her why I find this so hysterical. But clearly, Frances likes carrots.
Aw, Frances, you don't even know how awesome you are.
Frances really likes carrots. And sounds like she'll have a log in here in a decade or so.
So I just did my taxes on H&R Block online, and they are so basic, I can't decide if I should spend the $55 to file with them or just fill out a paper form. Given that typing the info in took me maybe 20 minutes, I guess I'll do the paper and save the money. The good news is I'm getting a bunch of money back from the feds, and owe the state just a little. Sweet!
$55? That's insane. Mine was like $13.
Frances actually seems to have a pretty good handle on how awesome she is. She is a real hoot to be a parent to, I gather, and I expect her to take over the known universe in about 7 years.
The federal was going to be $20 and the state was $35. So yeah, my time is worth $50/hour.
Don't sell yourself short, Jesse! You should hold out for more!

Hah! That's really funny, if inexplainable to Those Who Are Not Us.
Jesse, does it give you the option to just print it and send it in? That's what I usually do, because I'm cheap. But these days I don't have state taxes.

Hee.
meara, is it cheaper to not efile? That hadn't even occured to me....and the answer is no, it's the same. To the pencil and paper!
