Can someone explain to me in small words what this SOPA/PIPA thing is? I feel like I have a vague understanding and that it will be bad, but I are confused by what exactly it is attempting to do, because everything I read seems to be about what it will do inadvertently.
ETA: I actually kind of figured it out- turns out reading the wikepedia article is more informative than the icanhascheezburger article, go figure.

Yesterday's little NPR story interviewed Mark Lemley, an IP professor who is now at Stanford, and who I will always remember as the man who brought the best bottle of wine I've ever had to a party. His wife's job was (and still might be) being Google's #1 corporate lawyer, so it was a bottle of wine I could never, ever afford.
