I'm making the turkey pot roast/coq au vin thing (except with brandy instead of wine).
It smells good on a gray winter day.

I am so sorry Scrappy.
On the one hand, I think the idea of goats that have spider silk in their milk is very cool, and yay science. On the other hand, the phobic part of my brain is saying THIS WILL END BADLY, GIVE ME A FLAMETHROWER NOW.
Yeah, I'm with Jilli on this one. I'm a scientist and think some of that is cool, but I'm also a science fiction reader...and I think "OMG WE WILL ALL DIE"
Aeryn stood over me yelling "No no no no no no!" I think she must have thought I was hurting the baby because as soon as I handed it to her she grabbed the doll, turned away from me, and started kissing its head. Too cute for words.
Aww, that sounds so cute!
When I woke up there was maybe an inch of snow, and I thought "well, maybe I could still go run errands". But now I'm really glad I didn't--there's at least three inches and that's wayyyy too much for anyone in Seattle to drive OK in.
We haven't had any snow since this morning, and the tiny bit we did get is melting. I want snow, dammit. Partially so I can get the crying that is lurking at the fringes of my emotional stability over; Mom hated snow, and would always call to tease me about summoning the Snow Demons to vex her.
We appear to have a half inch in Olympia. Which is way too much for most in Olympia to drive in.
So far today, I have semi-cleaned the kitchen (nothing is shiny, but counters are wiped clean and floors are swept and the dishwasher is loaded), set up the online homework for my students for Tuesday, unpacked almost all of my last suitcase from winter break, practiced piano, did part of the homework for the online ASL class I'm taking, and played around with programming a Lego Jeep robot. Now I'm trying to decide whether the next thing I want to do is read a mystery novel, play Epic Mickey, or watch March of the Penguins.
Scrappy, I'm so sorry.
Happy Birthday, msbelle!
Go Liese and msbelle and other productive Buffistas!
I am running out of weekend and have the Sunday dreads. Went to brunch and Mardi Gras World with a friend from out of town, then stopped by the pharmacy and finally picked up some prescriptions. Stopped by the grocery store, too, and got a couple of things. But I still have tons of laundry (which means a trip to the laundromate) and the pet store and more groceries to buy, and work work and volunteer work and the dog needs a walk and I need to pick up around the house and ARRRRGH.
I'm starting a brain dump task list, and then I'll have to triage. No way I'm getting anywhere near everything done. Also, I haven't gotten to see StW this weekend, which is a bummer. On a related note, this anxiety attack can go eff itself.
did 2 more bags of leaves between games and then calls with family members.
I am finally getting around to Holiday cards now. Going to get a chunk done during this game.
Happy Birthday, msbelle!!!
Happy Birthday, msbelle!
I find it so odd that Jilli is what, two miles away from me, and has so much less snow than I do?
