You got fired, and you still hang around here like a big loser. Why can't he?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

So much that I'd even think about reading his books.

... someone's not reading my LJ. ::pouts:: Anyway, Jim Hines' books are pretty good, but not (sadly) as good as his LJ. Good ideas, but the execution's a bit shaky. That said, I love the idea of Libromancer, and will totally be buying it.

Also, I think this link is even better, because she compares covers with men to covers with women, and does a pretty thoughtful analysis of the differences: [link]

Yeah--I mean, I don't love any benefits managing company, and I already KNOW they will only give me so much of a drug per month, but to send me a shitty condescending letter about how it's for my own good? Pisses me right the fuck off.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm not reading anyone's LJ, actually.

I have CVS for drugs, Aetna for eta: what? medical. We just got a rollable HSA, which is an improvements from the non-rolling FSA (which failed to reimburse my dental this year, so I'm chasing receipts to make claims and get my fucking money back.)

But I don't have any standing prescriptions and so far, just have needed generic anti-bs, which are cheaper ay my cost and using the *SA than dealing with Caremarks' bullshit confusion.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

That's bullshit, meara.

Luckily, next week is short again.

This is true, but sadly for me anyway, it's the last short week until April. ::cries::

Along with the shitty new health insurance, they also took away our MLK day. And President's Day. This is ...another week just like the rest, until MAY.

UGH.

Well, my worksite is closed. But I have to take a vacation day because my employer (I'm on a subcontract) doesn't observe it (I get to float the holiday, but not until april. Bullshit beancounter crap.) Oh wait, excuse me, they observe it as a "day of service to honor MLK's legacy." By which they mean, service to them. It's so tin-eared I began ranting loudly when I saw the email.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Oh, modern life.

I just emailed my sister asking for a recipe for a kale salad she made for me once. She sent me a link to a blog, which had sourced the recipe from another blog, which had sourced the recipe from a cookbook which I own. So that was a pointful wander through the internet.

meara, I can't imagine getting through the winter without those two long weekends! That's so evil!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

msbelle, there was no injera link? I don't think we have an Ethiopian place here, and even if we do, I know I'd be too shy to ask them about it!

Scrappy, motorcycle trip through the desert, woo! You've passed some sort of coolness rite of passage now, I'm sure.
