this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I don't like bitter-tasting vegetables. I haven't found any culinary trick that makes them palatable to me.

I feel like I have twice as many bitter taste buds as the average person, because bitter foods are so *overwhelmingly* bitter that I can't stand them. Black tea, coffee black (I have to have cream), IPA beer, bitter leafy greens, etc.

However, I love leafy greens like collards or turnip greens with a healthy dash of vinegar -- red wine or balsamic. And brussel sprouts that are roasted or broiled until they start to carmelize are not bitter at all.

No solution for IPA, though.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

If you don't insist on purely "breakfasty" stuff - curried couscous with chickpeas.

Make a soup with water, olive oil, a table spoon of red wine, curry powder, garlic, salt, pepper, honey or other sweetner and any other spices you please, with sweet peppers and onions, a generous amount of garbanzo beans, and a miserly qty of green peas if you wish. When soup is done let in continue to simmer, and stir in 1 cup of couscous for each two cups of liquid. Stir and simmer for a minute, put a lid on the pot, turn off, let sit for seven minutes, stir with a fork. Can be eaten hot or cold. Best if made a day advance so the flavor gets stronger overnight. You can add cashews and raisins to the soup while cooking if you wish for additional flavor. If you do, cinammon and cardomon are additional spices to consider. A high protein complete vegan meal.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Have they left you hanging like this before, ita?

First refill the doctor took it to the pharmacy, because they took so long responding. Second refill a nurse took the the pharmacy, for the same reason.

I first called this shit in Monday, and then was home near where I could pick up the script for three days. I'm back at the office tomorrow, so I can't make it to them in work hours. I was pretty clear about this. And then...long weekend. Sometimes I wonder if the doc doesn't want me on whatever med it is, but he can't leave me to go off it cold turkey. I was left hanging long enough the first time that I think I started withdrawal, and it was not fun.

has anyone every suggested you do a trial for medicinal pot?

Not only have they not suggested it, when I suggested it (don't need a trial in CA, just need a prescription) they plain old said no.

Obviously methadone and doses of dilaudid so big they had to make rules to prevent it are by far the better solution to a pot brownie.

Because books.

Honestly, there's something wrong with the way they handle that practice. Total bullshit.

And even though I've suggested medical weed, I don't know how much it would actually help. It might take the edge off, and relax you, but sometimes it acts the way gas at the dentist does -- you're not *without* pain, you just don't care about it so much.

Our wings are not tired.

ita, I've got some I could deliver to you so you could try it and see if it helps. I have to laugh because I smoke like once a year, if that, but I have a good stash. And now I don't want to at all because next job could have drug testing as part of screening so I can't take the risk. But seriously this last week has been so stressful that this is WHEN I WOULD if I COULD!

So, anyway, if you ever want to test, let me know. :)

(And lurker drug-enforcement types: the above was all a lie.)
