Thrive to spite them

It was supposed to be snowy and horrible this morning so my therapist moved the appointment (she has a 1 hour commute) but it only started snowing around 11. Adn it's stopped.

Now the forecast is about 3" today and by the morning 8".

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Jessica, public schools in every big city anywhere will make you want to cry. I recommend the frequent and liberal application of gin.

Or moving to Westchester. Where the property taxes are high and the schools are so easy...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My water broke in the middle of the night. I dribbled all over the floor, all over everywhere, and then Hec got all flinchy over the prospect of having to go to the hospital at 2 AM and we had a tense discussion over whether or not it was actually pee.

I was denial. I didn't want to lose my last night of sleep for the next four years. Also, since she wasn't in labor I knew we'd just be in for an incredibly long haul at the hospital. Which was true.

Look at this adorable house in Ossining - [link]

And there is one elementary school there. You just walk in and register.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know how to politely explain to someone that he didn't precisely go through pregnancy. If you're a cis-man, it's pretty much on the list of things that didn't happen. Your wife "went through" it. And it's great that you think pregnant women are so beautiful and pregnancy is such a magical thing, but that's something I'm going to leave up to every individual woman faced with it, and I'm going to assume that women that have been pregnant know more about it than either of us.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

And there is one elementary school there. You just walk in and register.

On the flip side of that, I've heard my mom complaining that the one school in the suburb where we lived wasn't really a good fit for me, but there weren't any other options except for private schools. In the city, there would have been other schools to try.
